As part of our warm onboarding tradition, we have had the privilege of sitting down with Charmaine to explore her unique journey, both in the professional realm and her personal passions.
With a distinguished background of over 20 years in the Life Sciences industry, Charmaine brings a wealth of experience in Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring to her role. As the Europe Lead in this pivotal domain, she spearheads strategies that empower individuals and organisations to harness their potential across Europe.
Charmaine’s journey has equipped her with a deep understanding of effective leadership and the transformative impact of coaching. Her expertise extends to guiding teams through growth, honing leadership skills, and fostering environments of collaboration and innovation. We engaged Charmaine with a series of questions, aiming to explore her motivations, the compelling reasons behind her decision to join the Impel Talent family.

“Why did you join Impel Talent?”
“I had an opportunity to work with the great team at Impel as a client, and I learnt a lot from them. Going through one of the leadership programs I learnt about what my purpose is. When the chance came to work here, I knew I would be working with like-minded people and being able to live my purpose.”
“What do you love about your role?”
“My purpose is to help people to grow and develop. And that is what I get to do every day. I also meet so many fantastic people from a wide range of industries. I love understanding what the pain points are in a company or with an individual and working with them to create a bespoke program to support their needs. Whether that is supporting their leadership to create a 90-day onboarding plan for new hires or creating a leadership program which provides their emerging leaders with tools to learn and grow.”
“How did you get into L&D?”
“Over the past few years during my role in the industry, I did a lot of mentoring and supporting people through change and realised I really loved this part of the role. So, it felt like a natural progression to move into L&D.”
“What about L&D really inspires you?”
“The ability to help people to grow and develop. To guide and support people to reach their goals.”
“What is your top tip for people thinking about hiring a leadership coach?”
“Find a coach you feel you can be open and trusting with. Trust in the process and be willing to put in the work. If you do not you will not get the value out and you will ultimately not be true to yourself and the time you are investing. You are worth it.”
“What is one piece of advice you wish you could tell yourself 10 years ago?”
“Be more curious and navigate your own path. Do not let others decide your journey for you.”
“What do you do to relax and unwind outside of work?”
“I love the outdoors. I love to hike or do long walks, kayak and swim. When the weather is not good, I have usually got my nose in a book.”
